Sorewa: "Yeah, you woke Tea up."
Sel: "You see, my question is, 500 years in the future wherein our newly established "government," as they like to call themselves, is so intent on establishing "mental stability," no-one has decided to actually fight against it with the true capabilities of free minds? We literally can not think on our own any more. We are so caught up in the machines, and devices, and codes, and medication that keeps us "in check." There's a reason why they get so aggravated when you turn around and say "no." Just take a look at your family. Of course, you can't now because they're dead. The only reason why our beloved oppressors kept them alive for as long as they did was so we didn't break their pretty little rules. Well I found a way to work inside their system, I found a way to turn everything they established against them. I broke us all, and I brought about a new strain of despair."

Sorewa: "Isn't this debate what you're after? This drama of yours? Why do you keep cutting it off?"
Sel: "Oh. I'm really not worried about it. Frankly I'm more interested in the big reveal..."
Sorewa: "What more could you possibly have to say?"
Sel: "Oh? So now you actually what to hear my tale?"
Sorewa: "N-n... NO! Guys, come on we're nearly there. Dex, you woke up and yelled at Tea to stop her from creating our dreams! And Rose, he came up to you and tried to give you more condoms during your argument, correct?"

Sel: "As you may know, Sylvia was an excellent student in constructing technology that coincided perfectly with our dear Ultimate Neurologist - a student from another class of course - and in the process allowed us all to inspect patterns in brainwaves, and later, simulation of said brainwaves. She saw areas of concern in all of us. I saw... opportunity."

Sel: "Our beloved government didn't want anything to get too out of hand, and by out of hand I mean they didn't want anyone to think for themselves or understand exactly what it was they were up to, so they attempted to remove our class' toy from us and use it for their own gain. (And by their own gain I, of course, mean destroy it because they already had something similar but worse.) It was only a matter of time until they'd force their faux therapy programs that were "inspired" by Sylvia's work. What this really was was an attempt at synchronising us. Synchronising us AGAIN I should say. They would be most upset if we fell out of alignment. For a period of time, it worked. And so, I, myself, go to work. You see, I got a hold of many documents and letters pertaining to Natasha and I simply threw them away. She needed actual help the most, so I declined it. Her and her beloved partner were already on my tale about the deaths of everyone's parents I caused. Except, of course, for Zeus' mother - that one wasn't DIRECTLY caused by me, you can thank my suggestion to Sylvia for that."

Sel: "I started to make us all break apart, I made it so we all only had one source of comfort - each other! I brought us together and formed a creative outlet using all our magnificent skills! We were to put on a play! And not just any play! It was to be performed at the memorial for all of those lost in The Tragedy and all consequent events that led to the deaths of all those with the same vision as our stupendous government to establish a new city. And what better way to celebrate the realisation of the ideas of those whose lives were lost over conflicts surrounding a survival of the fittest in terms of the only good thing humans are capable of - thought - than to perform a re-enactment of the finest example of despair and death from the very beginning of The Tragedy: The High School Life of Mutual Killing! Our Headmaster Kiyotaka wasn't exactly impressed with our ideas. Of course, it wasn't exactly a perfect re-enactment. The show we performed was based off of our class specifically."

Sel: "But that doesn't mean I didn't require thorough investigation of the event. So I called forth my, quote-unquote, best friend, to utilise his ability to check facts and sources and get past the immense censorship our super duper amazing government has put in place. In the process he was informed he would become the Ultimate Historian. Though, bear in mind, this didn't mean anything and his life was actually in danger. He had uncovered something he shouldn't have, using sources "beyond the breach." At first, the academy was fine with him learning and understand quite how drastic it was, and for the meantime that's all he understood it as being. But when I lost a single page it became of interest to the Headmaster to attempt to persuade us to stop before anything else occurred. The thing is, to expose the reality of The Tragedy would be to tell everyone that everything that had been told by the government as the truth would be a lie. We had all been lied to. We all had cotton stuffed into our minds and been bred into molds that sculpted us into something that we did not have to be. We were stripped of the right to think, to speak, to act, in completely different ways. I sought to completely tear that down."
Sorewa: "Please, just stop! We need to keep talking together guys, stop listening to him he's just throwing you off the trail!"

Sel: "I agree! A lot sure has happened, why not take a break and let me explain everything."
Sorewa: "Oh my god..."
Sel: "It eventually came down to a battle between me, and those who were brain-washing us all. They weren't do it for our safety or for the betterment of mankind. They were content purely with their own devices, their coddled life-style, and their constant pushing down of any individual or creative thought or idea! There was nothing! Only mindless hierarchies proving to everyone else just how worthless they are. Why else would they re-establish a school, and by school I really mean city, to showcase just how far from perfect everyone is. They promise enlightenment and realisation of one's true potential but they feed everyone nothing but lies! They had my own, quote-unquote, friend that wasn't quite as close to me as my best friend, to talk to me about my play and convince me to stop with his disgusting lying tongue!"

Sel: "So you know what I did? I continued to make my goddamn play. I had Edgar video it, I had Remus help me write it, I had Sylvia help with all the technicalities, I had Nate, Lisa, Sorewa, and Natasha star in it, eventually you all featured in it. I devised it with pure passion, and anger. And you all loved it. You performed beautifully. Like, for example, those recorded messages from Monokuma, they were all from our play! And the scripting really captured the essence of us all. In fact, you could almost say that everything that you've all said up to this point has been scripted!"

Dex removes the knife he found in the chem lab from his coat pocket. "Can...Can I just stab him now? It's bad enough listening to this guy, but he's standing right next to me and that really makes it unbearable...."

Sorewa: "Wait... what did you just-"
Sel: "Meanwhile I took Sylvia and perfected her technology used to emulate and later transmit brain signals, or even convert video signals into something one can perceive as really being there! Like virtual reality! We made a profile on each and everyone of you. We started to play around with it, of course, making unrealistic scenarios that could have been transmitted through trial and era. At first we started making original profiles, people that didn't exist with completely bizarre talents - one scenario we devised the neurological patterns of the Ultimate Children's Card Game Duelist! In another, we made an Eldritch Horror's thoughts! Several attempts were complete failures mind you; an attempt at emulating myself at one point resulted in distress amongst the others and later, a complete breakdown of one of our machines. But we learnt more than those who overlook us could possibly have to provide."

Sorewa: "Dex, that knife... what are you doing with that?"
Sel: "We constructed a virtual school for all of the students it would soon host, we added the odd rule here or there just to keep the machine going. The therapy sessions were working in my favour, your skills were working in my favour. Lisa had publicly humiliated and drove the class president to suicide, taking the position for herself, and giving me the gateway to command students of my own. I asked you earlier why no-one stood against this government bent on so called "peace of mind," and I made note of the manufacturing of Kamukura Izuru as the Ultimate Hope. So instead of establishing the original ideological Ultimate Despair, I constructed a neurological Despair of my own.
I built an army by subjecting them to High School Killings of their own!
The plan was simple; take the odd student out of class, impose the emulated brainwaves of their fellow classmates and transmit scenarios just like this one, have them either be killed by one of the fictitious students or kill and win. The wonderful award at the end of it all was they would be able to take control of the body they had been locked into! I used my manufactured despair to cause chaos. And like a coup I became the headmaster and forced everyone to undergo the exact same process.
Including... no... ESPECIALLY YOU. The best part was our scenario became dictated by the script of the play we devised. This is it! You are living the play we made together. And by we I specifically mean
The one person in this trial room who is real."
