Battler wakes up to the sound of loud thunder. It’s his first night on the island in years and he is having trouble sleeping. He gets up and sees his cousins around him. George, Maria, Ange, and Jessica were all sleeping around the room. He smiled, happy to see all of them so happy.
As quietly as he could, Battler walks of of the guest room and decides to go downstairs for a drink of water. Strangely enough, the servant’s room door was wide open, and the room was empty. As he approached the kitchen, he saw a small, warm light on the counter.
On the counter, there was a lit candle. Next to it, was a letter…
“Good Morning Battler! I hope you slept well. As you have probably already noticed, I, Beatrice,
have begun my resurrection ceremony! Your cousins aren't the only ones who have become sacrifices. Take this key and feel free to explore the main house. You are the last survivor! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
-Beatrice
The envelope had a master key, the only master key, inside of it. But this letter didn't make any sense. Battler rushed back upstairs to his cousins. They were still all there, sleeping in their beds. Of course, they were all alive. Weird. Was I not supposed to find the letter until the next morning? Battler woke up George and told him about the letter. They both decided to go to the main mansion together.
When they left the cousins’ room, they locked the door behind them. With that, the door and windows of the room were locked. George and Battler grabbed umbrellas and ran to the main house.
.........
The VIP room had a letter in front of the door. The letter told of a scene where, after being chased by Goat Monsters, Natsuhi, Eva, Rosa, and Kyrie locked themselves into this room. It was then that Beatrice appeared before them in a flurry of golden butterfly wings. To trap them, Beatrice locked the windows tight and set the chain to the door. Then, one by one, she killed the women.
Battler unlocked the door using his key, but was stopped by the set chain. With help from George, the two men were able to break through the chain and get into the room. Inside, four corpses laid on the floor. Each had their faces crushed, but Battler recognized them by their distinct clothes. In this closed room, Eva, Natsuhi, Rosa, and Kyrie were dead.
.........
The study also had a letter in front of the door. It described how, after finding their wives and sisters dead, Hideyoshi, Krauss, Rudolf, and Nanjo locked themselves in the study to protect themselves from the Witch. The servants, who were suspected of the murder, were told to give up the one unique study key and one unique master key and hide elsewhere. The seal on the door held back Beatrice somewhat, but Gaap was able to make it inside with some of the Stakes. The men were armed however, and a huge fight ensued. But Gaap expertly redirected the bullets, and the men died from their own weapons. Gaap locked all the doors and windows. She told the Stakes that each corpse must have a stake in their head. Then, before leaving, she took the master key from Krauss and vanished.
Despite trying hard, Battler was never able to open the study door.
.........
The last placed Battler checked was the Boiler room. There was no letter this time, but stuffed in the burner were 4 bodies. They were all burned beyond recognition. To make things worse, both doors to the Boiler room were locked from the inside.
Battler ran to the large portrait of the Witch and yelled. She couldn’t exist. She couldn’t! He will figure out how these killings were done! He promises!
