"Oh, that. I was looking for Kinzo, to challenge him to a game of chess when he was feeling up to it."

"Uu-?" Maria nods, and then thinks carefully. That was all she could think of to ask. "Alright, lets head to the study." she says, returning to her initial route.

The group resumes following Maria as they arrive to the locked study.

Maria glanced over her shoulder. Maybe she should have kept the key she'd found a secret, and tried to get the person with it to fess up. But then what was the point of the key? She had a guess, but she wouldn't know for sure for a little while longer. Maria fishes the key out of her bag and uses it to open the study.

The group follows Maria in and Clair takes her seat. "I think our young Detective has investigated enough for now. Let the second vote begin."

"Aunt Kyrie and Mama Rosa were killed in Mama's room. The murder weapons were this silver candlestick from the foyer, and some rope from the supply closet. The culprit also left a key to this room under the bed. Granpa Kinzo is missing his key, and I don't know the state of Genji's key." Maria summarizes. "The rope was cut from a longer piece, and the only thing to cut it with are the knives in the kitchen." she reaches into her purse. "This is the knife used to kill George, and it is the only one missing from the kitchen, so the person with the knife had to have come up here to cut the rope before killing George."
"So, this person had to have access to the kitchen, and had to have traveled between upstairs and downstairs. Doctor Nanjo was here upstairs when Genji brought Grandpa his meal, and he said he came downstairs afterwards because he hadn't eaten yet, then afterwards, he said he was looking for Grandpa Kinzo, though Grandpa Kinzo was in the parlor the whole time. Detective Maria's vote is that Doctor Nanjo is the Culprit!"
She couldn't help but feel that she was forgetting something important, but it was too late to figure that out now.

"So that's one vote for Nanjo. Two more and we can wrap this up."

Vote nanjo.

"That's three. Voting phase end." Clair walks to Nanjo and takes his armband. "It's a shame. Nanjo was innocent."
After the vote, the family hangs out for a little bit until the servants leave and the family begins to filter out. Eva, Hideyoshi, Rudolf, the "dead", Lion, Willard, and Jessica leave while Kinzo and Nanjo set up their chess game. Clair, meanwhile, looks through Kinzo's book collection.
Phase 3 BEGIN!

Wrong again? But Nanjo had been the most suspicious, the most likely to be able to get the rope, hadn't he?
Maria stares blankly towards Clair. She needed a new strategy.
Maybe it was Grandpa Kinzo? Genji and Nanjo could have just been accomplices. But then he still would have had to leave the parlor for the two murders, wouldn't he?
"Uu-" She finally decides to leave and go after the family, deciding to keep as many "living" people in her sight as she can.

As Maria leaves, Clair follows her. Maria sees by two rifle shells by the stairs, with Gohda and Kumasawa standing at the bottom, their armbands off. Clair, passing Maria, retrieves the armbands.
"That happened sooner than expected."

"Ah! Already?" Maria exclaims. She picks up the rifle shells. These she knew had to come from one place.
"Uu-" Maria groans, feeling tricked. Maybe at one point the culprit had both keys. They'd left the key for her to find so she could lead everyone into the room, and confuse who had taken the gun. Or maybe they'd done it so they could take the gun.
She turns back to the study immediately. Had the gun been taken during the vote, or put back? She had to figure out if the murder weapon was still missing.

As she does this, Clair calls out to the living players so they can tag along. The party heads along behind Maria towards the study.

Who left first? Maybe the servants did, but then that would mean the culprit had to have been waiting for them? Or maybe they called them back? That's right; Kumasawa and Gohda were 'alive' while they were in the study, so the culprit wouldn't have the opportunity to put the gun back yet.
Before she gets to the study door she turns to look over the 'living' players for anything odd. Would the culprit try and sneak the gun back inside now?

Maria frowns..
"Detective Maria wants everyone to stay right here. I'm just going to check one thing in the study. Don't leave or go off on your own." She says, before going to the study door.

"Good. I was not yet finished looking through the books." Clair steps forward from the group and up to the door with Maria.
